Professional Development Programme
Professional Development is a bespoke curriculum to Bourne End Academy that has been launched this year.
We have designed a robust curriculum to support the whole school vision of developing future leaders. Under this umbrella we look at developing our students into good citizens of our society who uphold:
- British Values
- High Moral Standards
- Careers Education, Information, Advice, Guidance (CEIAG)
- Gatsby Benchmarks
Each term there is a different leadership theme across all four of the tutor time activities. The themes are resilience, optimism, empathy, motivation, leadership and democracy.
The three areas that support Professional Development within the school are: pastoral tutor time that all students receive every day, the academic curriculum subjects they will be studying and for those students in Year 7 and Year 8 a timetabled Professional Development lesson once a week.
The tutor time activities that students receive each week are Industry Day, Assembly Day, World News Day and Leadership Day.
We have had some brilliant virtual guest speakers during the autumn term, sharing with our students what resilience and optimism means to them. We were blown away when Max Whitlock MBE, Five-time Olympic Medallist in gymnastics, shared a wonderful motivational message with BEA students.
