Joining in Year 7

Welcome to Year 7

The aim of Year 7 is to make a successful transition to secondary school. We recognise that this is not a small challenge; Year 7s enter secondary school and are expected to be significantly more independent. Our goal is to take students from being primary school students to secondary school students who understand their responsibilities. Responsibility is a key theme running throughout our personal development curriculum. Not just responsibility for our belongings and homework but also our responsibility for our actions and how they impact others. A core part of Year 7 is understanding that we will all make mistakes, it’s part of growing up, but how we learn from our experiences will make us stronger and kinder individuals. Our curriculum focuses on six key modules to develop this: diversity, future, mental health, online world, physical health and relationships. These modules centre around what is means to be a Year 7 at Bourne End Academy and how we support students in their progression towards becoming future leaders.
