Meet the Sixth Form Team
Wajid Raja– Assistant Headteacher
Welcome to our Sixth Form.
I joined BEA in January 2021, to lead the Sixth Form and be the Careers Leader too, a role that serves all learners from years 7-13.
I have taught Business and Economics for over ten years now, and I am excited to introduce economics to BEA for the first time. As you would have read in the prospectus, I am very keen on bringing industry, and HE experiences to our students. Whether that be students partaking in high-quality work experiences or university widening participation schemes, in addition to the many other experiences available to students from more traditional methods such as the DoE awards to the lesser-known mentoring schemes offered by large MNCs locally and in the City of London.
I have a strong track record in supporting students to achieve their aspirations. The opportunities young people have nowadays are unique in many ways. I am hopeful that every BEA Sixth Form student can leave us well prepared for the next steps in their lives equipped with the grades they all deserve.
Alice Craft- Academic Tutor
I joined BEA in January 2021 and I will be the Sixth Form Academic Tutor, I will have oversight of the Russell Group pathway. In this role, I will help you navigate the Sixth Form and support you through your university applications. Having only recently graduated from university, I will be able to give you an insight into higher education and what you can expect to encounter once you leave the Sixth Form at Bourne End Academy.
I studied History at Hertford College, University of Oxford between 2017 and 2020, where I loved having access to some of the best libraries in the world and being taught by leading academics.
I love travelling to new places in my spare time, and I am also a keen runner, having completed the Oxford Half Marathons in 2018 and 2019. I am excited about working with you and helping you to achieve your dreams and aspirations.
Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions you may have.
Charlotte Mattingley- Head of Social Sciences & UCAS/KS5 Coordinator
Students and parents/carers know me very well as I have a long history in the school, promoting excellent achievement.
I offer guidance and support to all students with their UCAS and apprenticeship applications. My advice is based on many years of experience in various roles blended with the local economy’s knowledge and broader contacts.
I am optimistic and loyal to every student, and nothing is too much trouble. I encourage a supportive environment to help all students recognise and develop their skills, thus enabling them to become successful and productive leaders.
I look forward to continuing to serve our local community.
Ben Martin- Sixth Form Tutor and teacher of Criminology, Psychology & Sociology
I am passionate about setting the highest expectations in the sixth form. I focus on developing good working relationships with students to act as a motivator within the sixth form. My door is always open. I believe in an equally approachable and helpful manner for the benefit of our learners.
I studied Psychology at the University of South Wales. I was fascinated by the subject when I studied it for A-level and decided to continue at university. Since then, I have developed a strong passion for the subject and wish to pass this passion on to my students. While at university, I enjoyed meeting new people, broadening my horizons and learning even more about the subject I love.
Sam Moore- Sixth Form Tutor and teacher of Business
I joined the BEA in September 2020, I enjoy supporting our learners with their university and apprenticeship applications. I am also lucky to be a teacher of many of the Sixth Form students in my capacity as a Business teacher.
Business studies is creative and alive, which is why I am passionate about teaching this subject. Before qualifying as a teacher, I was fortunate to have worked in Arts Management and was responsible for marketing many shows both here and in the USA. I then set up my own company which continues to grow. This contextual understanding gives our students a good insight into the dynamic and developing business world. I enjoy seeing how our student’s ideas grow.
“There’s no shortage of remarkable ideas, what’s missing is the will to execute them.” – Seth Godin.
